Usability is central to the success of any website and we offer a range of services which can be used at any point in the life cycle of a website.
Some clients want to undertake a usability study on their current website before they start to build their new website so they can learn from its failings. Others want to consider usability before they undertake a search engine marketing campaign to ensure once they are getting relevant traffic to their site, they are able to direct it through the site to the point of conversion. Ultimately, undertaking a search marketing campaign, without first ensuring your site is user-friendly with a clearly plotted user-journey and conversion goal, is a massive waste of time and money.
In any website usability study, the first step in the research process is to undertake a detailed review of the site to fully understand the site’s current status and to identify where potential improvements could be made. The outcome of this will provide valuable insights into what actions we could take to raise the bar above that of your competitors. From the website review, we produce a 200 point checklist of criteria with a clear indication of whether the site has met or failed to meet this criteria and recommendations for further actions.
The next step in the usability review is a comprehensive competitor analysis. This is a highly detailed review of the direct competitors’ websites. This research is customised to your specific needs and requirements, but in general involves reviewing each competitor’s website based on four key areas: usability, branding, content and functionality.
These four areas all contribute to the user’s overall experience of the website. In addition, we undertake a comprehensive review of each website’s features, tools, technology and interactive design.
The result of this is an overview of what your direct competitors are offering to their visitors online. This gives us a clear idea of what the acceptable standard and the mark in the sand that your website must exceed to be more successful than your competitors.
We can also undertake a competitor landscaping study where we compare your website to that of your competitors and create a visual representation of where your website sits within the identified landscape and where you aim to be. This is then presented as a brand map.
